I forget things…A LOT.
My wife and I have a running joke that my memory and her IQ disappeared with the birth of our kids. The only way we keep up with kids and commitments is with systems and schedules. The system that I could not live without in my business, is my email auto-responder.
There are so many great things about email auto-responder services, it would do injustice to try to list them all here. So here are the main reasons I use them, and some techniques I use to leverage the heck out of it!
Delivering content quickly after the first email
Did I mention that I forget things…A LOT? So this is a perfect way to make sure you deliver on what your newsletter says it will. Put your best tutorials or most requested information, in a small bite size campaign. This way you don’t have to rely on remembering to send it or prodding people to read it.
Laying down a path for your sales funnel
There is no better way to lead people to a sale then to share and connect on a scheduled basis. At the end of your best attempts to educate and assist your customers though, there should ALWAYS be an opportunity for more interaction. That can be at the end of an email, the end of a series, the end of a video, or the end of a speech. Always have a plan to ask for the sale…
Multiple opportunities to engage people
Does a successful pitcher in baseball throw just one pitch? Can you expect to stick around long only throwing fastballs? NO. The best plan is to come with 3-4 good pitches when possible, and mix it up. Give your customers several ways to hear from you. Address 3 or 4 different subjects with their own email campaigns. Then of course see my suggestion above…always ask for another interaction with your customer.
Gives prospects different areas to explore
I love websites that offer me the opportunity to get on email responders that send me only emails on a certain subject. It allows me to sample the person’s knowledge, tone and writing style before fully committing to a long-term relationship Give people multiple ways to engage you, and you will be rewarded.
Build on multiple SEO keywords
A very basic trick to getting good organic traffic from search engines is to write good content on the keywords that matter to your business. When you have several different pages on your website that all point at specific keywords, that builds authority. It is a bit more complex than that, and Brian Clark over at Copyblogger does a much better job of explaining than me. You can read more about content writing for SEO here: http://goo.gl/Xdcg
Your old posts continue to work for you
As someone who grew up in the Robert Kiyosaki world of building passive income, I am always keeping an eye out on ways to make my time and money work for me. An easy way to keep your blog working for you is to keep your most popular archived articles available in your sidebar, or somewhere visible. This allows your autoresponder to do all the heavy lifting on things you’ve already written and thought about. Doesn’t it just make sense to let your old ideas continue to speak? Only if they are good ones
Not screwing up!
A severely lacking quality in businesses, and therefore people today, is doing what you say you will do. As a forgetful chap myself a lot of my blunders in business are unintentional. So if my email responder service does nothing else, it saves me from myself. Things get done on- time with the right deliverable in place.
Even if you are not forgetful like me, most people are too busy to rely on our own schedules to get the things done. Take advantage of tools. It’s smart business.
How about you? Do you have a tool in place that keeps you on the top of you game? What helps you be the best you can be in your business? Please tell me more in the comments below.
